Nicotine Salt vs Freebase E-Liquid
E-liquid nicotine mostly comes in two forms — nicotine salt and freebase (regular) nicotine. They're chemically different, and that difference shows up mainly in which devices each one is designed to work well with.
Nicotine salt e-liquid
Nicotine salt e-liquids use a more stable, naturally-occurring form of nicotine, usually paired with a thinner, higher-PG base. Listings in our catalog built around this style are typically labelled for use in small pod systems rather than sub-ohm tanks — several of our own nicotine salt product listings state exactly that, since the coils in larger tanks aren't designed for that combination.
Freebase (regular) e-liquid
Freebase is the traditional form of nicotine used in most standard and sub-ohm e-liquids, including most of our 70/30 and shortfill ranges. It's generally paired with a thicker, higher-VG base suited to larger tanks and mod-style devices rather than small pods.
Matching the liquid to the device
As a general rule: small pod systems pair with nicotine salt e-liquids, while tanks and sub-ohm setups pair with freebase e-liquids. Using the wrong combination doesn't damage anything, but it usually means a weaker flavour or a harsher draw than the device was designed to give — checking a product's own listing for a device recommendation is the most reliable way to match the two correctly.
